Let Us Introduce Ourselves
Welcome to this information resource about the little-known 18th century English naturalist and artist Mark Catesby. After visiting the New World twice, and starting to publish in 1729, Catesby took eighteen years to finish the first fully illustrated study of North American flora and fauna.

To find out why the Catesby Commemorative Trust was formed and why it commissioned a film about Catesby, we invite you to explore our site.

Project News
Dave Elliott, Executive Director of the Catesby Commemorative Trust, circulated the following project news update, March 22, 2010:

It's now a year since "The Curious Mister Catesby" was distributed to public television stations. The results have significantly exceeded the forecasts we were given at time. There have been almost 1,000 telecasts, with over 250 having been in "prime time". They have covered 70% of the US television market (compared with 50% apparently considered to be a very good result). It's been viewable from Miami to Anchorage and Maine to Los Angeles, with many repeats. Indeed there have been about 150 broadcasts since Christmas, with more being scheduled.
